Recently, a laborer has died due to heat stroke during construction work in Chennai. Sachin from UP collapsed while working in Meenjoor area. This incident is happening in Meenjoor, Chennai. Rajiv Gandhi succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to a government hospital.

He fainted while engaged in construction work. In this situation, the people who worked with him screamed and took him to the hospital. He fainted after working for a long time and suffered from heat stroke.

 What is heat stroke?

  •  Heat stroke is the loss of water in the body due to intense work and the failure of various organs starting with the heart. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures and extreme heat can cause the body’s temperature regulation system to malfunction.
  • Severe heat stroke thereby damages vital organs such as the brain, heart, kidneys and muscles, leading to serious health complications. The body’s response to heat stress includes increased heart rate, which can strain the cardiovascular system, especially in individuals with pre-existing heart disease.

Bad Temperature:

  • Temperature continues to rise in Tamil Nadu. The weather is bad enough to issue a yellow alert for a heat wave. 38-39 degrees Celsius is prevailing in most places in Tamil Nadu.
  • Stations at some other locations recorded temperatures of 42°C and above. For example Vellore :43.2°C (+4.0°C) & Trichy: 42.1°C (+3.7°C). Tirupattur, Tiruthani, Dharmapuri, Madurai City & Airport, Palayangottai, Salem, Nagapattinam, Chennai (MBK) and Thanjavur recorded 40-42 degrees Celsius yesterday. C

Hange in working hours:

  • It is said that it is at this stage that consultation is being done to change the working hours in Tamil Nadu.
    It is said that the Tamil Nadu government is consulting to change the working hours of heavy outdoor works such as construction work and road laying works.
  • Consultations for this are being carried out on behalf of the government. Suggestions are being made that the heavy work done in the sun during the day can be given alternative time at night.
