Google‘s parent company, Alphabet, is apparently boosting its focus on India, with plans to manufacture drones and Pixel phones there. The Times of India stated that Sundar Pichai’s business is in discussions with Foxconn to manufacture drones and Pixel phones at a plant in Tamil Nadu. Dixon Technologies has already received the contract to manufacture cellphones, as previously reported. Now, Alphabet-owned Wing is looking to create larger drones to transport larger parcels in India.
Where will Google manufacture its drones in India?
The manufacture is expected in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, following conversations with the state government, according to the article, quoting a source who stated, “It is not just Pixel smartphones and drones.” Google has several more goods to produce, and its choice of Tamil Nadu demonstrates the value support our state can provide on a worldwide scale.”
This comes after Google announced its decision to manufacture the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro phones in India in October of last year. At the time, the corporation stated that it was in talks with both domestic and foreign players.
According to industry estimates, more than 80% of Apple’s iPhones in India are currently assembled in Tamil Nadu by two contract manufacturers, Foxconn and Pegatron.
According to the report, a group from Tamil Nadu, including Industries Minister T R B Raja and Foxconn executives, traveled to the United States and met with senior Google executives in Mountain View, California.
