USA: Facebook’s parent company Meta has announced that it will shut down its Workplace app. All the major tech companies in the world are currently focusing their attention on the artificial intelligence segment.
Meta has also allocated a large budget to artificial intelligence and metaverse technologies. So Meta has decided to cut other expenses and operations.
In that way, Meta Company has announced that it will stop the Workplace app which was brought for the needs of workplaces. Instead, the company said it will focus on artificial intelligence and metaverse technologies. The company Meta has announced that the Workplace app will not be fully functional after June 2026. However, Meta said that Workplace will only be used as a communication app within the company. Artificial intelligence technologies have brought about major changes in the way we work. Hence, the demand for the Workplace app is diminishing and instead our full focus is going to be on artificial intelligence and Metaverse technologies,” a Meta spokesperson said.
In the next two years, Meta will provide procedures for customers who may be using the Workplace app to switch to another app, Zoom Workvivo, the spokesperson said. The app called Workplace was launched by Meta in 2016. An app called Workplace was introduced to enable employees to exchange information among themselves. Apart from that, the workplace app was widely used for activities such as employees from different companies working on the same projects.
Now the advent of artificial intelligence technology has brought about major changes in the way we work, Meta has decided that the old app will no longer be needed. Meta said that Workplace will operate at its current rate until August, after which changes to it and the transition to Workvivo will begin.
